On June 18, 2021, President Biden declared Juneteenth a federal day of observance in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. African-American people have celebrated Juneteenth since 1865.
Shades of Becoming a Mom, Inc. salutes the Crown H.E.R. Miss Indy Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant for creating a space where the diversity, beauty, and strength of Black women are celebrated, appreciated, and elevated above and beyond Black women's ancestor's wildest dreams.
